Dr. Carl Fleisher is double-boarded as both a child/adolescent and an adult psychiatrist. Since 2023, he has been the co-owner and medical director of the Boston Child Study Center (BCSC) of Los Angeles, a multi-state group offering expert psychiatric care. Prior to that, he spent six years as an Assistant Clinical Professor in the UCLA Health system. Dr. Fleisher attended Harvard Medical School, then completed residency and fellowship training at the UCLA Semel Institute. After fellowship, he joined the faculty of McLean Hospital, leading a residential OCD program while also collaborating with the staff of the Gunderson Personality Disorder Institute. He returned to Los Angeles in 2016.
Dr. Fleisher's clinical and academic focus is on the nexus of personality disorders, the effectiveness of psychotherapy and measurement-based care. He treats adults and adolescents with personality disorders and related comorbidities. He is certified both as a supervisor for Mentalizing-Based Therapy (MBT) for adolescents and as a trainer for Good Psychiatric Management of BPD. He serves as a member of the Psychotherapy committee of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Locally, he is on the faculty of the Los Angeles-based Mentalizing Initiative, a non-profit that sponsors training and workshops for MBT. He has contributed to five books about BPD spanning different treatment modalities and patient populations.
