About

Dr. Carl Fleisher is double-boarded as both a child/adolescent and an adult psychiatrist. Since 2023, he has been the co-owner and medical director of the Stratus Mental Health Center. 

Dr. Fleisher attended Harvard Medical School, then completed residency and fellowship training at the UCLA Semel Institute. After fellowship, he joined the faculty of McLean Hospital, leading a residential OCD program while also collaborating with the staff of the Gunderson Personality Disorder Institute. He returned to Los Angeles in 2016 where he spent six years as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at UCLA Health.

Dr. Fleisher's clinical and academic focus is on effective psychotherapy and measurement-based care. He is certified both as a supervisor for Mentalizing-Based Therapy (MBT) for adolescents and as a trainer for Good Psychiatric Management of BPD. He is on the board of the Los Angeles-based Mentalizing Initiative, a non-profit that sponsors training and workshops for MBT. Nationally, he is a member of the Psychotherapy committee of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and an active participant in the Psychotherapy Caucus of the American Psychiatric Association. He has contributed to five books about BPD spanning different treatment modalities and patient populations.
