Herbert Psychiatry, LLC provides comprehensive and individualized mental health care for adults in Northern Virginia.

Founded by Dr. Mariel Herbert in 2025 (MD since 2012), Herbert Psychiatry is a person-centered outpatient practice that offers both in-person and virtual appointments.

Services offered: Psychiatric consultations, medication management, and psychotherapy.

Dr. Herbert grew up in Northern Virginia and completed her Adult Psychiatry Residency at the University of Maryland/Sheppard Pratt in 2016. She lived and worked in San Francisco before recently moving back to Virginia.

Dr. Herbert is passionate about creativity in mental health, celebrating neurodiversity, and creating meaning in our own lives. She actively works with other doctors and the community to challenge mental health stigmas and burnout. Other clinical interests include women's mental health and working with adults who were once gifted children.

In addition to comprehensive individualized care, Dr. Herbert is also currently enrolling physicians, veterinarians, dentists, and women without children for weekly psychotherapy groups (4 groups). Each separate group will include 4+ participants. Meetings are virtual, one evening a week, open to Maryland and Virginia residents.
